Mayor Jim Mathias with Mary Lou got a "thumbs up" for his performance of "Soul Man" at the Winterfest Gala.

Another event that is behind us now but still bears mentioning is the Winterfest Gala held at the beautiful Coconut Malorie Hotel. Glorious music played by the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra had beautifully clad dancers gliding across the floor - a wonderful sight. On the upper mezzanine, Mary Lou & the Untouchables took her turn at getting the crowd to dance, too, but definately a different style of dancing. This lovely lady of soul shared a hat and sunglasses with Mayor Mathias and coaxed him into singing along to "I'm a Soul Man." He did a great job, too! Mary Lou has a heart as big as her voice and now she has a whole new group of fans. She and the boys will be returning to Fager's Island on January 16 & 17.
